Description: The purpose of the experiments is to investigate the influence and potential benefits of allowing shallow foundations for bridges to rock. The large centrifuge at Davis is ideal for this project, because they intend to model an abutment, bridge deck, column, footing and foundation soil system in one model container. The detail required in these models requires the use of a large model container that is available at NEES@ucdavis
